In 2019 LightAct was approached by DCBolt Productions to provide a media server platform for a projection on a 3D model of the city of Tampa, FL. The 17-foot model is located in the marketing center of Strategic Property Partners in downtown Tampa and is used to present a multi-billion dollar real-estate development called Tampa Water Street.
LightAct is the hardware and software platform that runs Unreal Engine content created by Imerza, and processes it before pushing it to 12 HD projectors – all in real-time. The installation uses 2 Sync 6000 frame-locked servers.
"During the research phase, we were looking for a media server that works seamlessly with Unreal Engine. That’s how we found LightAct and after checking out its features and how responsive they are, the decision was easy."

Devin Wambolt from DCBolt explained how the collaboration started: “During the research phase, we were looking for a media server that works seamlessly with Unreal Engine. That’s how we found LightAct and after checking out its features and how responsive they are, the decision was easy.”
"LightAct servers proved to be very performant and reliable."

Co-Founder & CTO, Imerza
LightAct sent 2 technicians to the site to assist with the setup. In just a few days they were able to align 12 projectors using LightAct’s powerful 3DCal projector calibration feature and a multitude of warp & blend tools.
“LightAct’s 3DCal projector calibration tool was absolutely critical in making this project work. It allowed us to align virtual cameras inside UE4 perfectly with the real projectors.”, said Devin.

When 3D calibration was done, the team used Texture warp & blend nodes to fine-tune the outputs until they were aligned with absolute accuracy.
As the final step, the team scheduled automatic system restarts with LightAct Manager for added reliability and peace-of-mind.
After several days of working with LightAct, Devin had this to say about the platform: “I was impressed by LightAct’s stability, power and flexibility. Everything worked as it should.”
