The Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) is more than just a song contest; it also sports high visual impact for all involving acts, and it is one of the bigger TV events in Norway.
For the 2026 production, design included:
- efficient lighting rig
- high resolution LED screens
- lasers
- Zactrack followspot system
- LightAct media server system
This was the first time LightAct was used for a large scale TV production in Norway.
SuperDiode Creative Studio
SuperDiode, a creative studio based in Norway, designed all the content for the show, and also delivered the media servers and tracking system.Â
"The Double rt2 was the perfect server for this production, with 4 x 4K outputs and lots of GPU power, it delivers amazing performance for its price."
Jan Martin Svensson VÃ¥gen
SuperDiode
To drive the high-resolution LED canvases, SuperDiode chose LightAct’s Double rt2 server, as well as a custom-built backup server.Â
The main server was equipped with VIO-SDI for professional-grade video input & output and GUI for additional ports for the user interface.
The show was partly programmed in the timeline and partly controlled via DMX layers from the lighting console.
"Double rt2 server comes with a redundant PSU which adds to the overall reliability of the system."

Precision Timing and Workflow
The entire show was triggered and synchronized via MTC (MIDI Timecode). This ensured that the media server content was frame-perfect with the lighting cues and broadcast graphics.
"LightAct's workspace gives an excellent overview of what is running where and how the system is performing."
