In early 2017, Nipek Lighting Design Collective contacted LightAct in regards to interactive lighting and audio for a lobby of a serviced residence tower above Funan shopping mall. The proposal included a large number of Color Kinetics iColor Accent fixtures in a zig-zag pattern on the ceiling of the lobby. The fixtures and the audio should respond to the movements of people in the lobby.
LightAct worked closely with Nipek during the design phase and helped them specify the components of lighting and audio control.

A single LightAct Pro M server (predecessor to Sync 4k2) was chosen for this project. It runs computer vision algorithms on 4 miniature IP cameras installed in the lobby and outputs live video to Pharos VLC controller, which then maps it to iColor fixtures.
Through a standard 3.5mm jack output on the server audio output, LightAct outputs an ambient audio background loop. On top of this background audio layer, additional shorter audio effects are played back whenever someone comes into the lobby.

Before and during the commissioning, LightAct worked closely with Creative Lighting Asia who were responsible for mapping the fixtures and setting up the whole downstream system.

To give the Client an easy-to-use tool to control the installation, the team created a dedicated WebUI. It allows the Client to adjust the volume of the background audio loop and the interactive audio effects and to change the colors to white and red during Singapore National Day.
LightAct Manager was set up to start the project up whenever the server boots up. It also detects if LightAct is not running properly in which case it automatically shuts it down and restarts it.
